I have just finished working on a very nice project conceived by Matty Pye at the Victoria and Albert Museum. She brought together users of the ‘woodworks’ workshop – a facility run by the St Mungo’s charity for homelessness, and a group of designers to think about furniture design. The aim of the project was to show how design and manufacture can be an empowering and important aspect of everyday life for all people. The men from the workshop worked on adaptations of an Enzo Mari chair design, drawing on their experiences of living on the street and in hostels.
The results of the project are showing at the V&A during the London Design Festival. More information can be seen here.
