Recently completed and handed over to the client is this piece; Lodged, A Collecting Cabinet. It was designed and made to contain and display a changing selection from the client’s collection of contemporary craft, anthropological art, and personal mementoes.
The piece is structurally and sculpturally more complex than previous pieces in the series of collecting cabinets but still very much grounded in the same methods, aesthetic and materials. Riven, sawn, and scraped wooden surfaces have been combined more explicitly to work up areas of textural contrast and the piece’s form emphasises its three-dimensional qualities
